A Houston work accident lawyer can play a pivotal role in helping you secure various forms of compensation following a workplace injury

The nature and extent of compensation may vary based on the specific circumstances of your case, but here are some common types of compensation that a skilled attorney can help you pursue:

  • Medical Expenses: A work accident lawyer can help you seek compensation for all medical costs related to your workplace injury, including hospital bills, surgeries, medications, rehabilitation, and ongoing medical treatment.
  • Lost Wages: If your injury has resulted in missed workdays or a reduced ability to perform your job, an attorney can help you pursue compensation for lost wages. This may include past and future earnings that you would have otherwise earned if not for the injury.
  • Workers' Compensation Benefits: A work accident lawyer can guide you through the process of filing for workers' compensation benefits, ensuring that you receive the financial support you are entitled to under the law.
  • Disability Benefits: In cases of severe injuries leading to a temporary or permanent disability, a lawyer can assist you in obtaining Texas disability benefits to cover the financial impact of a diminished earning capacity.
  • Pain and Suffering: In some cases, you may be eligible for compensation for physical and emotional pain and suffering resulting from the workplace injury. A lawyer can evaluate the impact of your injury on your overall well-being and pursue appropriate damages.

By enlisting the services of a skilled Houston work accident lawyer, you can maximize your chances of securing the full range of compensation you deserve. This allows you to focus on your recovery and rebuilding your life after a workplace injury.

What Job Industries Can a Houston Workplace Accident Lawyer Help With?

Workplace accidents can occur in various settings, and an attorney experienced in this field can navigate the specific challenges associated with each industry.

Here are some job industries where our Houston workplace accident lawyers can offer valuable assistance:

  • Maritime, Offshore, and Onshore Oil and Gas: Houston's proximity to the Gulf of Mexico makes maritime and offshore industries significant for our law firm. Our attorneys can handle cases involving oil rig injuries, maritime accidents, and Jones Act claims. Additionally, we can help with onshore jobs related to the energy sector like oilfield drilling, refining, and oil transportation. These injuries include those resulting from explosions, falls, and exposure to toxic substances.
  • Construction: Construction sites are prone to accidents involving falls, machinery mishaps, electrical incidents, and other hazards. A workplace accident lawyer can help construction workers secure compensation for injuries sustained on the job.
  • Manufacturing: Workers in manufacturing plants may face dangers related to heavy machinery, chemicals, and assembly line processes. Our attorneys can assist in cases of injuries resulting from equipment malfunctions, exposure to hazardous substances, or other manufacturing-related accidents.
  • Transportation and Logistics: Workers in the transportation industry, including truck drivers, warehouse staff, and delivery personnel, may experience injuries from vehicle accidents, lifting heavy cargo, or slip and fall incidents. A workplace accident lawyer can address these issues.
  • Agriculture: Agricultural workers may encounter injuries related to machinery accidents, exposure to chemicals, or incidents involving livestock. A work injury accident lawyer can help these individuals seek compensation for their losses.
  • Healthcare: Healthcare professionals, including nurses, doctors, and support staff, may encounter workplace injuries due to lifting patients, needlestick injuries, or accidents in medical facilities. Attorneys can help healthcare workers navigate their legal options.
  • Office, Administrative, and Retail Work: While office settings may seem low-risk, employees can still suffer injuries from slip and falls, ergonomic issues, or workplace violence. Attorneys can assist with cases involving injuries sustained in office and retail environments, such as lifting accidents, repetitive motion injuries, slip and falls, or injuries caused by defective products.

Regardless of the industry, if you've suffered a workplace injury, consulting with a Houston workplace accident lawyer is crucial. We can provide guidance, assess the circumstances of your case, and help you pursue the compensation you deserve.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I file a lawsuit against my employer for a workplace injury?

In many cases, workers are covered by workers' compensation, limiting their ability to sue the employer. However, if the injury results from gross negligence, a lawsuit may be possible. Consult with an attorney to understand your options.

What if my workplace injury occurred due to a third party's negligence?

If a third party, such as a contractor or manufacturer, is responsible for your workplace injury, you may be able to pursue a personal injury lawsuit against them in addition to a workers' compensation claim. An attorney can help you explore this option.

How does the legal process for a workplace injury claim work in Houston?

The legal process involves gathering evidence, filing a workers' compensation claim, negotiating with insurers, and, if necessary, pursuing a lawsuit. An attorney will guide you through each step, ensuring your rights are protected.

Can I afford a workplace injury attorney?

Many workplace injury attorneys work on a contingency fee basis, including the lawyers at Pierce Skrabanek. This means we only get paid if you win your case. This makes legal representation accessible to those who may be facing financial challenges due to their injuries.

$14 Million Settlement in Jones Act Case

Summary: Settled a Jones Act case for $14 million two days before trial. Our client suffered a head injury on the Hercules 15 Inland Barge. The Hercules 15 was located in Lake Washington, Louisiana at the time of the incident. Hercules employees tack welded a three foot pipe to the derrick and then forgot to remove it before starting drilling operations. The pipe was jarred loose and hit the plaintiff in the head. The case was filed in Galveston County court in March 2008. The case was set for trial February 2, 2009. Hercules settled the entire case for $14 million on the eve of trial.
