Mark grew up along the United States-Mexico border in Brownsville, Texas. He earned a business degree with a concentration in international business from the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas. After college, Mark spent several years managing the supply chain of a nationwide furniture company.
For law school, Mark attended South Texas College of Law Houston. During his time there, he received a Cali Award for making the highest grade in his Civil Pretrial Advocacy class. He was also a semifinalist in two mock trial competitions and received a Top 10 Appellate Brief Award in the Leroy Jeffers Moot Court Tournament.
As a third-generation lawyer, Mark has focused his legal career on personal injury law and has substantial experience in all aspects of civil litigation. He is passionate about fighting for individuals and working-class families against large insurance companies and corporations. Mark is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas and is an active member of several trial lawyer associations.
After losing his grandmother to Alzheimer’s, Mark got involved in the effort to find a cure for the disease. He serves as a board member of the Alzheimer’s Association - Houston and Southeast Texas Chapter and participates in the annual Houston Walk to End Alzheimer’s. As an ambassador for the 29th Congressional district, Mark meets with members of Congress to advocate and garner support for Alzheimer’s research funding.
In the past, Mark has served as a board member of Temenos Community Development Corporation, a nonprofit organization that provides affordable housing and support services to Houston’s homeless population. He has also served as a member of his law school’s Young Alumni Council.
